Agenda

Our joint RS-APS & HGS-HIRe lecture weeks are crossdisciplinary events that cover experimental, theoretical and technical aspects of a particular research field together. This year, the scientific program aims to cover an overview of research activities of the FAIR collaborations for Atomic Physics, Plasma Physics, Biophysics, and Material Science. A preliminary agenda and schedule is provided in pdf file below. An update, if needed, will be announced in due time.

Practical Information

Begin/End

The lecture week starts on Monday, February 27, and ends on Friday, March 3, 2023. More details will be announced in due time.

Venue

The lecture week will take place as a face-to-face event at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena. The address is: August-Bebel-Str. 4, D-07743 Jena

Travel

Please arrange for individual travel to the location. More detailed information including additional advice for participants using public transport and, if so, possible car pool arrangements will be provided in due time.

Accomodation

Accommodation will be provided by RS-APS and HGS-HIRe in the B&B Hotel Jena. Arrangements depend on the number of registered participants. Therefore quick registrations for this lecture week are very welcome in order to arrange proper accommodation in time.

Food

Lunch, coffee and snacks in the breaks are included in the lecture week. Breakfast depends on your accommodation. Dinner is individually organized.

What to bring

Clothing: The lecture week will be very informal, so only casual attire is necessary. Please plan for an outdoor social activity (depending on weather).
Equipment: Please bring your own laptop. Furthermore some software is needed for parts of the tutorial/hands-on seminars. This software needs to be installed on your laptop preferably before the corresponding tutorial/hands-on seminar starts. More detailed information about this issue will be announced in due time before the lecture week starts.

Internet

Wireless internet access is available. Please bring your own laptop.

Expenses

All basic expenses are covered by RS-APS and HGS-HIRe, respectively. All meals are included. You only have to pay for local expenses, e.g., drinks etc. in the evening.

Insurance

Though this trip will not generate any costs for your supervisor or group please do not forget to file a trip request so you are covered by insurance during the lecture week. Please ask the secretary of your official supervisor at the university for the appropriate form.
