HGS-HIRe Lecture Week on Accelerator Physics & Technology - June 2019 - Laubach

June 24-28, 2019

Intensity limitations in ion beams

Ingo Hofmann (GSI-FAIR)
Elias Metral (CERN)
Giovanni Rumolo (CERN)

Gerhard Burau (HGS-HIRe)

Agenda (preliminary)

HGS-HIRe lecture weeks are crossdisciplinary events that cover experimental, theoretical and technical aspects of a particular research field together. This lecture week on accelerator science and technology will focus on FAIR accelerators (Linacs and Synchrotrons) and LHC upgrades (Linacs, Synchrotrons and Colliders) with particular emphasis on physical aspects like beam dynamics, space charge, impedances, lifetimes, etc. (including simulations) as well as technical "remedies" like collimators, feedback systems, automatic (AI) machine setting.

The lectures will be given by established accelerator scientists from the field, who are extremely knowledgeable and experienced with the topics. Students who are interested in pursuing research at hadron accelerators in particular at FAIR are very welcome to attend this lecture week. This includes, besides students and early career researchers from the research field of accelerator physics and technology, students from other fields of research who will be user of the accelerator complex, as well as students who are also interested in the art of beam physics and techniques and related science.

For registration please send a brief email to info[at]hgs-hire.de as soon as possible.
