Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemia the 2021 International Summer Student Program unfortunately has been canceled. We are looking forward to 2022 and hope for an interesting and successful iteration of our Summer Student Program next year. Stay save and healthy! |
During the summer months of 2021 GSI-FAIR and HGS-HIRe organise an International Summer Student Program which is offered to a limited number of students in physics or related natural science disciplines from Europe or GSI-FAIR partner countries.
GSI, the German research center for heavy-ion physics, is one of the world's leading accelerator laboratories for basic research with accelerated ions. In cooperation with an international research community, the existing accelerator complex will be significantly extended by a new Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). The center provides unique research opportunities for investigations in the fields of hadronic and nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, atomic, laser, and plasma physics, materials science, and biophysics with applications to cancer therapy, new accelerator developments and radiation safety. Detailed information about the research centre can be found here.
The International Summer Student Program is organized under the leadership of the GSI Helmholtzzentrum in close cooperation with HGS-HIRe - the Graduate Program of GSI-FAIR with its partner universities.
Level: Advanced undergraduate level (3 rd to 5 th year of study, i.e. last year of Bachelor or during Master studies; PhD students are not eligible)
Duration: July 26 - September 16, 2021 (8 weeks)
Number of Participants: about 35 students
