9th Joint HGS-HIRe & RS-APS Lecture Week on Atomic and Laser/Plasma Physics - October 2021 - Online

Please note: Due to the Covid-19 situation this lecture week cannot be held as a face-to-face event in the usual format. However, we together with our colleagues from RS-APS / HI Jena offer this scientific training event in a modified online version as a combined four-days-series of lectures in the morning and little group work sessions in the afternoon. More detailed information is given below.

Date

October 11-14, 2021

Topic

Novel applications triggered by modern laser technologies

The number of participants is not limited. Nevertheless, please contact Renate Märtin (HI Jena) by email to rsaps[at]hi-jena.gsi.de and HGS-HIRe by email to info[at]hgs-hire.de for registration in advance so that we can plan accordingly.

Lecturers

Vincent Bagnoud (GSI & TU Darmstadt)
César Jauregui (IAP Jena)
Jens Osterhoff (DESY Hamburg)
Peter Thirolf (LMU München)

Coordinators

Renate Märtin (RS-APS / HI Jena)
Gerhard Burau (HGS-HIRe)

Agenda

Our joint RS-APS & HGS-HIRe lecture weeks are crossdisciplinary events that cover experimental, theoretical and technical aspects of a particular research field together. This year, the scientific program aims to cover various aspects of novel applications that have been triggered by modern laser technologies. Since this is a rather broad topic, young researchers from other fields of research are invited to participate in this online lecture week, too.

The following subtopics will be addressed by the lecturers:

Foundations and basics principles of modern laser technologies (César Jauregui)
Laser Physics at PHELIX (Vincent Bagnoud)
High Precision Laser Spectroscopy – towards Nuclear Clocks (Peter Thirolf)
Physics of (Laser-)Plasma based accelerator systems (Jens Osterhoff)
